The newest anime you are watching Empty
PostSubject: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptyWed 12 Sep - 10:13

This place needs a little reviving bounce

So I was wondering, what is the newest anime series you are watching ?

Me, I'm currently hooked on the new series Mononoke (a spin-off from the 2006 series Ayakashi). It's the most odd thing I have ever seen (story, graphics, shots, and so on), but it's been a while since I watched an anime so interested and so amazed.

Also, got to love the Medicine Seller (main chara). He's so cool ! (with his pointy ears and fangs and that mysterious voice) Razz

Well, I gave the good example, now it's up to you Arrow

PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptyFri 14 Sep - 10:53

Aaaah ! Good to see some activity again Very Happy

@ vorahk and Hotaru-sama:
Zombie Loan. That's next on my 'to watch' list, after I finish some other series first (I buy so many DVD's, it takes me ages before I have watched them all). But hearing from you guys it's so good, I think I won't wait much longer to watch ZL Razz

@ Hotaru-sama:
I'm watching Kaze no Stigma too ^^

@ tanth:
Yes, Mononoke has really nice animation, in it's very own special way. I adore the traditional Japanse music and mysterious sounds. As for the chara design, well they are looking really odd most of the time. But that's what makes this such a refreshening series. It's like a combination between drawings and paper cutted scenes. And it's a real blast of colours, especially when you watch it in HD.

It's not for people who need a certain dose of high speed action in their anime though. The story goes very slowly, but that makes it extra thrilling to watch (well at least I think so).
And I keep to my statement. The Medicine Seller is uber coolness ! Cool

Just like vorahk, I'm also wondering how they are able to sue people for anime downloading. That means they must track computers, and so on and so on. Urgh, so hateful.

vorahk> I'm from Singapore. You haven't heard of the drama going on here? I thought its reached far and wide! Hahaa.

Thing is, there's this anime distributor over here, by the name of Odex. Somehow, they are able to track downloaders by some programme or the other. And you can actually check the leechers when you're downloading something on BitComet. Yep, they're mainly catching downloaders via comet. After acquiring the IP addresses, they got the downloaders' addresses by asking the internet service providers. Downloaders will receive what we call the Odex Love Letter.
If I recall correctly, there's a fine of SGD3000 to SGD5000 for it.
And they say my country has the highest number of downloaders in proportion to population. =-=

Aya> The papercutting technique seems to be derived from The Count of Monte Cristo by Gonzo. Hahaa.

@ Aya ^^ glad you're gonna try it out Smile i shall do the same with your onw Smile

@ Tanth oooOo nope nope, havent heard about it lol, but i ll ask around. ^^

hmm thats weird, dont you sign the contract with your internet providers saying they enclose your information and not give it to any other third party? :O breach of contract! sue the net providers! haha

their method sounds logical but something sounds dodgy lol...how many people have been caught? and what happens to the unloaders? they are after all the ones who provides the goods to be downloaded lol.

oh btw, you can always rely on direct downloads Razz (unless the site dies lol)

PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptySat 15 Sep - 22:11

vorahk> Yeap, the service providers are at fault. Here, we have 3 main service providers. The company sent out letters to the service providers asking for the information. It's some legal letter thingy, I think.
The first and second service providers just gave in to the company and release the information on their customers. The third company hired lawyers to counter the company and they actually won the court case. So the lucky peeps who signed on to the right service provider. XD

I think around 300 people have been caught. Around that number, can't really recall. Though I did hear somewhere that the company is making $15mil or something. I'm just glad I didn't receive one of those. Hahaa!

I'm relying on veoh and crunchyroll. Hahaa. Veoh offers ddl, so yep, it's cool.

^^ nice nice, but the other 2 net providers.. sigh. if i got one of those letter, i would so sue the net providers for breaching the contract. my info is confidential damnit! >< hehe , only 300 have been caught and im sure there are LOTS more. it ll take them forever to catch them all (haha sounded like Pokemon) keke.

woah 15 mil already? looks like the hard work is paying off for them lol.

i tried joining veoh, it took me back to the main page or something lol *shruggs. yeah my friend uses crunchyroll, she gave me her account and had me add my favs to her list lol. i was able to find some rare shows on it, although the audio is not top notch.

*EDIT oh i got veohtv working, its pretty cool ^^

According to the 2 net providers, they received court orders to release their customers' information. XD
Yea, there are lots and lots more. Hahaa. But they've stopped catching people. Something about stopping all downloads from the 3rd of september and they'll not catch previous offenders.

I've no idea how much they did actually earn. They didn't release any information on that. Not even in the newspapers. =\

Veoh's cool. Hahaa. The quality beats crunchyroll's handsdown. XD

arrr i see i see, thats a different story then lol. Sad there goes your human rights/privacy lol. woah, this tactic of theres might actually work and i fee sorry for those who did get caught as they are now letting the others off Razz. but then again, downloading is slack haha.

whatever the case, the owners/producers/distributors should earn what they deserve Smile.

Yea, and the new FAQ on the website states that students caught dlownloading anime would get expelled from school! Utterly hilarious. Hahaa.

The case here with the distributors is that the quality of their products are bad. The subtitles are full of grammatical errors, and some were even copied from fansubs. Ironic, really. =\

I do agree that the producsers should earn what they deserve. I buy the DVDs even though I've downloaded the shows and I'm a real sucker for figurines and artbooks. XD

Exactly. People are complaining that the distributor thinks they're above the law. =-=

I think that it's more of like another source of income for them since they're experiencing bad sales. Hahaa!
And I did used to buy from them. =\ I bought Gundam SEED from them, even though there were blatant errors in the subs. Orb became Aube, and Ramius' name turned into something hilarious. Hahaa.

Yea! Merchandise! I love plastic folders. I've a collection of them! I buy double at a time, kinda like Konata from Lucky Star. Hahaa.
And models! I can never find them in China, even though I go there quite often. =\ Maybe I just don't know where to look.

The newest anime you are watching Empty
PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptyWed 19 Sep - 12:51

Embarassed Euhm, yeah, I know I wanted to get this place more active, but then I don't post for several days myself. Shame to myself.
BUT, I have a very good reason. It's been a rather busy start of the week for me, with the event and press conference we had at work (concerning the found of several mammoth bones at the site in Rumbeke)

Pffff. Hearing (well, actually reading) all of this, I'm ever so glad to live in Belgium. Over here, they don't really care too much about downloading from the net, except for music, which have to be done legally from now on.

I think that some of the measures are a bit too extreme, like getting expelled from school. To me that sounds really ridiculous. But then again, I'm not a student anymore, so I shouldn't worry XD

Aaah, when it comes to collecting anime stuff, that is my biggest obsession (shared first place with collecting Eurobeat music; I have over 250 albums. Should count them to know exactly how much).
About 20.000 anime images (walls, screenshots, scans, artwork, self-made stuff, ...) I can almost start my own little manga shop. I have passed the border of 400 manga recently. DVD boxes, about 50 to 60 (a lot of limited and collector editions, so pricey ones). Tons, really tons of magazines (Japanese, English, French and Dutch ones). Several artbooks. Several goodies. And of course my growing, very recent, collection of figurines (Cloud and Axel from Kingdom Hearts, Vincent, Sephiroth and Squall from FF, Luke and Tear from Tales of the Abyss, and Rai and Asato from Lamento. I also think of buying Dante from Devil may Cry). And I have one model, Kira's Freedom.

The only problem. I'm starting to have a lack of space to put things. My 5 layer display cupboard is completely filled up (I also collect model trucks, busses and trains), my manga cupboard too, and actually all the other places I put things too. But as long as I can, I'll keep on buying anime stuff. There's a shop near my house (half an hour driving), so no problem for me to find my needed dose of anime goodness Very Happy

And now I'll shut up. I blab too much ^^'

It's gotten a wee bit lil more active but sorry, it's been kinda a bit off-topic. ^^;;

Downloading.. legally? How's that done?
And yep, expelling students from school is just plain ridiculous. Denying the children from their chance at education just for pursuing their hobby. It's not like students have better alternatives to downloading, they, well, we actually, hahaa, don't have cards to pay for online purchases, thus limiting sources where we can purchase better quality DVDs.

Hey cool! Maybe we should start a thread on sharing our collections! Very Happy

vorahk> How true. Do you know that gum's banned here? XD

But it does have its pros and cons. Low crime rate, clean and stuff. And it's not really a government endorsed act to catch downloaders too. It's just the distributors. Even law ain't on their side. Hahaa.

That's quite a bit of models you've got there. Smile
I'm personally a fan of 1/100. Hahaa. Bigger scale the better. XD I've got a Destiny and Infinite Justice with the plastic stands. Thinking of changing them to the action based ones. They kinda look nicer. I've got one for my Savior that I've yet to build. Neutral

PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptyThu 20 Sep - 10:36

Going off topic in the chat lounge is no problem at all. What else do we have one for Very Happy So don't worry a second about getting completely off track (only here though ^^). It's like vorahk said, as long as we're posting something worth posting/reading, it's all good, heheh. AND, we're being active, so my mods heart is pleased again Razz

@ tanth:

Downloading music via special, and officially legal declared sites. Some songs are free, if the band agrees, for others you have to pay, but not too too much. Besides, it's still only for more recent and popular tracks.

True. Without credit cards, it's hard to lay your hands on the more rare stuff. But a couple of years, and then you'll work, and then you'll have your very own cards. ^^

That is a very cool idea, about the collection thread. If any of you wants to start a topic like that, feel free to do so !

Gum banned ?!!!!!!!!!! Shocked And I thought I just had heard everything. OMG, not that is REALLY strict !

@ vorahk:

Thanx. And hey, that is so nice to hear what you wrote, about being glad to have this place up and running for you guys. Domo arigato ! *bows*

True, we have our own lives ... And mine's a darn busy one ^^' But when events like the one this week are a great success, you don't care if you're super busy or not.

Whoa, so many Gundam models ! Kewl. I would buy some more too if I had the time to put them together. But right now, I'm happy with my Freedom (a 1/100 Master Grade, in action display).

Thanx (again). Yeah I know, it's a rather impressive collection I have (costed me enough money !). And every month, when I go anime shopping it grows and grows. I have just bought something, and I already have the urge to buy another thing. Like when I went to pick up my Asato figurine last week, I said I was only going to go get him and head back home. But I ended up buying also some manga and DVD's, and the new CD of Tokio Hotel. So euhm yeah, I'm quite collector obsessed ^^''''''''

While I mentioned it, is any body of you fan of Tokio Hotel ? (just curious)

--------------

Damn, long post, AGAIN. Rolling Eyes I guess that's what ya get for having a Public Relations Manager, who MUST talk and write a lot, as your moderator. lol!

PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptyFri 21 Sep - 19:44

@ Tanth yep yep, i knew about the gum, i also know that the punishment with it is quite the extreme. correct me if im wrong but dont you like get whipped if you're caught with gum? i heard some tough sanctions are put in placed if you jaywalk and spit (do correct me and clarify ^^)

you are absolutely right, things are done with a reason and yes it would be awesome to have low crime rate and the lot back here in Sydney/aus. arg the trains here are... filthy >< and the police are useless or just plain lazy. perhaps both? lol. my friend's shop was trashed and things got stolen. guess how long it took the police to come to investigate? 1 whole day. the crimes in his shop doesnt stop, it just continues. ><

no offence but im glad its a bit better then the US lol, ive heard many nasty things over there. high in racism, discrimination, guns, crimes and the lot Sad (correct me if im wrong)

ype yep, i drool over the 1/100 models too, theyre so much more detailed! but i feel guilty enough making my friend waste his space of souvenirs and fit my gundam so i figured it ll be best to get the 1/144 or it ll take even more room lol.

@ Aya ^^ no no, thank YOU! Smile even with your super busy schedule, you still have time to slip us in ^^, really appreciate that Smile

hehe its not enough, i want more gundams Razz HOly crap! Master Grade Freedom!! *bows* now thats class lol. insanely detailed and accurate!!! masterpiece indeed Smile the good thing about the gundam models is that you dont have to paint them or use glue! how they fit together is just amazing.

oh trust me, I totally understand, im sure Tanth does too Razz. shopping sprees are the bomb keke. especially when things are on sale! there was a half yearly sale at this shop with 50% off EVERYTHING, so naturally i stocked up my bleach plushes (Kenpachi, Byakuya, Kon, Ichigo), death note and bday presents with various anime merchandise. too bad they dont have any Gundam stuff Sad. however if you really want to restrict yourself, just bring less money Razz .

sorry, dont know Tokio Hotel but i shall look it up Smile

i think my posts pretty fat too this time Razz and Aya, you're perfect for that job!

Lemme give a shot at the fat posts too. Hahaa!

Aya> So you pay via cards and paypal and stuff? Another one which would restrict students from getting their hands on things online. Hahaa.

The couple of years' a long wait. Sad
But thank goodness I've made some friends who are old enough and have their own cards to purchase things for me! And woot! My Supernova ist has just been shipped over! bounce

I would start a thread like that, but I don't have much collection to show off now. My room's been transformed into examination-mode; all figurines (well, most) are fit into a couple of 1/100 boxes. silent

The government's afraid that people would just pit gum everywhere and the place will get dirty. Hahaa.

What sort of anime is Tokio Hotel?

vorahk> Whipped? I have no idea about the punishment but I don't think we have whipping here. It's more of like... caning. With a rattan stick, but that's in jail. Hahaa. The punishment should be some fines or something, I guess. I've never been caught, nor know anyone who's been. Hahaa.

Yeap, low crime rate's cool. Sets the parents' minds at ease when their kids are out late. But hey, we have a law on kids below 16 being out after 11. If they're caught, the police would give them a (free XD) ride home and inform the parents. Hahaa!
Won't all the crimes be bad for business? For your friend. ._.

You're forgetting the Strike Freedom full burst! It lights up! Real cool. XD
Well, you might want to consider coming over to Singapore to get your Gundams. Since Singapore is near Sydney and all... The price is pretty reasonable if you ask me, and they can be found at every department store! But of course, if you want to get them cheaper, there're certain hobby shops around.

And while we're on about Gundams, I'd like to learn how to paint my Gundams. Hahaa! Even though they do look good without paint, but it still does look more impressive with a paintjob.

I miss my shopping sprees. Sad

The newest anime you are watching Empty
PostSubject: Re: The newest anime you are watching   The newest anime you are watching EmptySat 22 Sep - 5:56

Bump for large posts bounce Looks like I've introduced a new trend Laughing

@ vorahk :

Well I'm happy to be here for you guys. When I am able to talk to you or help you, it always makes me feel great. No problem if I delay things to be able to be on, here. I really enjoy this place, so ... And sure, I (and the rest of the staff) can get lots of compliments, but don't forget that without you guys, this place wouldn't be around either. So thank you to all of you ! *bows*

Yes, the Master Grade is awesome. The level of details is fantastic. And indeed, it's pretty convenient that basically these models don't need to be painted or glued. Some time ago, I also used to build model kits of trucks (scale 1/24) and ships (smaller scales). They always had to be AND glued, AND painted. And that was one hell of a job sometimes (especially the trucks, with all the details on the engine block, interior, ...). But I agree with tanth. It sure looks nicer with a bit of paint.

Whao ! 50% off, that's so cool. I wish they did such big reductions in anime shops more often over here. And yes, I know I could indeed bring less money, but I always feel safer when I carry more, just in case I see something (pricey or not), that I really want Razz

There was this one time that I ran by a shop where they sell martial arts weapons. OMG, it was so hard for me not to buy that super lovely katana they had. It was such a beauty, and I almost bought it, despite its huge price. But since I don't have a weapon licence I decided not to buy it after all. My heart sure ached for a couple of days. But I now found a shop at about 45 minutes driving from my house, where they import amazingly beautiful katana's, so as soon as I get myself a weapon licence (if it's not TOO expensive of course), I will find myself a nice one to take home. Then at least I can use my own sword at samurai training Razz

Man, that really sucks, what happened to your friend. It's indeed nice when the crime level is low. It's rather high in my city (well, city is a big word), because it's right on the border with France, so a lot criminals hop over the border (the European Nation borders are all open). The police over here ... Well, they're not the best you can find, but from what I hear they are at least better than the ones over in Australia. As for the public transport. The trains, buses, trams and subways (we only have one subway in Belgium, in Brussels ^^') are mostly very clean, except for some older vehicles.

Ah, well, thanx for saying I'm perfect for the job. *blush*

@ tanth :

Maybe a law against gum would be a good idea here too. I don't mean that it should be prohibited to eat gum, but it sure would be nice if it wouldn't stick all over the ground or places to sit down.

Well, I don't pay everything with credit cards. I still pay a lot cash, or with cheques, since I buy a lot of stuff over here (there are some shops that import). As for Paypall, I don't even have an account.

Well, still feel free to open a collections thread when you feel like. You don't really have to show your collection. Describing all the stuff you have is fine too, ne.

Ah yeah, the Full Burst version. Well they didn't have it at the shop, neither at the convention where I bought my Freedom. And since the Master Grade Freedom I have now was the last one they had imported, I decided not to wait, and buy this one.

Laughing No, no. Tokio Hotel is not an anime series. It's a German music band. They're hot popular over here. Me and my friend Jelle are huge fans. Next month, we go to the Telenet TMF Awards, THE Belgian music awards show, where they are the main performer. Can't wait to see them play in real life. I hope we can meet them. I'd love the lead singer Bill to sign my CD cover. The only down point (or however you say it) is that it's 3 hours driving to get there, and of course another 3 to go back home again, in the middle of the night. But oh well, it's worth it Very Happy

WOOT ! My longest post ever here on this forum cheers

Aya> You paint models? Cool! Mind sharing some pictures? Surprised

Authentic katanas are hard to find, aren't they? I hear the swords smith or whatever you call them are strict with making katanas for people.

Yes! Exactly what I can't stand about gum is that they stick all over the place. I saw one (even though it's banned) stuck on the window pane in my club room in school. Gross. No

Alrighty, I'll do just that. Maybe showcase my cards collection or something. Cool

The full burst is worth waiting for! Not that I have it myself, but I saw it on display once. Real nice.

Oh, it's a band. LOL. I thought you were trying to go back on topic! Hahaa!
That'll be 6 hours on the road altogether! O_O Driving there?
It's cool to have music events. I've only heard of jrock gigs and such over here. And the MTV Asian Awards a few years ago..

*Another long post! But not as long as yours Neutral *

Yes, it's hard to lay your hands on authentic katana's. I do understand why, when you see all the craftsmenship (or however you spell that) and time they put in making one single sword.
But since I go to samurai sword fighting classes, I think getting a katana will be a bit easier for me ^^

Indeed. Gum stuck everywhere is gross. Mad Like when you take the bus, and you grab a handle in case you can't sit down, and there's this big fat super gross gum stuck to your hand ...

Hehe. No, I didn't try to get back on track Very Happy
Yes, I'm driving there. I have my own car, so it'd be stupid to take a bus, and then a train, and then swith, and then another bus. Besides, it's easier for my friend by car, since he's in a wheel chair.
6 hours is indeed pretty long, but I'm used to longer trips (8 to 12 hours). Besides, I enjoy driving, and I really want to see Tokio Hotel, so it's worth bridging the distance.
