PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptyMon 26 May - 10:59

You bet I like it ! I had my expectations up high (that's the tricky part of having a Graphics designer for moderator Very Happy XD), and you greatly managed to reach up to them. So you can be darn proud of yourself and your lovely pic ! ^^

Awwww ! Thankies *soft blush*. I'm really so happy that you like it. And wow, you sure wrote a lot in capital letters *feels really really happy* Your nice comment made sicky-feeling me feel better. ^^
I can't wait either to finish my Kira pic. But due to a serious lack of time, and the overload of details ^^'''' Very Happy, it'll probably take a while before it gets finished. Also because I'm working on other projects at the same time. BUT, it'll get finished one day or another, no worries ! Razz

Whao ! Kawaiiiiiii chibi Athrun figurine ! That has got to be one of the most adorable chibi figurines I've ever seen. Hahaha, Nicol as Torii ! Laughing
Must indeed not have been easy. It's already hard sometimes to draw a character as a chibi, so turning the whole thing the other way round isn't an easy job. But FANTASTIC how you managed to do so !

Then we should both thank each other Very Happy *hugs* As soon as I get inspiration for another pic, and you time to make one, I'll let you know Wink

cheers ! I'm glad to be part of your lovely Athrun wonderworld. ^^

PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptyMon 26 May - 11:06

Just when I clicked on send, an idea popped into my mind Very Happy XD ^^'''

Athrun is at work, using the copy machine to secretly make prints of Cagalli (a picture of her, or something like that). Cagalli could maybe be his boss or supervisor. When she sees what he's doing -secretly during working hours-, she's shocked and angry (but that doesn't mean she finds it all that bad Wink ), and Athrun of course gets a mega blush and acts all clumsy.

I'm really glad! Phew, I can't even remember how many times I did and redid that sword... Oy, that was the most difficult part, in the end! lol

I don't like to overuse capital letters. That way you can tell that I'm really serious when I do use them! ^0^ Seriously, your picture had me doing a double-take. Also, we had me pointing at the screen, calling my aunt to come look (she's a big Kira fan, heheh!) and she liked it a lot!

Aww, I adore the little chibi figure too! The webpage says he'll only be in stock from June 2008, but that's not so far away anymore! Heheh, can't wait to see him up close, take off his wrapping and plant a fat kiss on his chibified little head! ^___^

Heheh, yeah, Nicol is a bird and Yzak is a monkey of sorts, I think. The fact that he's sitting where he is made it really difficult to see chibi Athrun's little samurai ponytail, so I had to use my imagination there. Wink

PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptyMon 26 May - 11:43

cheers My 555th post. Such a magical number Smile

Swords can be real b*tches to draw. Especially seen the perspective angle you used in your drawing. I made this Rurouni Kenshin vector lately, and although I just had to draw the handle of the katana, it still took me a lot of time to finish it. (if you want, I'll upload a preview pic)

Then I should double my "oh my". ^^ And especially since a big Kira fan as your aunt liked it a lot. You sure have a cool aunt ! I wish my family would be a bit more 'open' to anime *sigh*

Chibi's are so much fun. I have a set of Final Fantasy chibi's, and they're tooooo adorable. June's indeed very very close. Normally, some of the stuff I want should be available too in June cheers
Hahahahaha, that's sooo cute. I can already imagine you doing it, lol.

Monkey Yzak ... Poor guy. He'll feel all pissed off, again, for being turned into a monkey. XD
Now that you mention it, he is indeed sitting at a spot blinding Athrun's pony tail. So hurray for good imagination ! ^^

Really ?! That's great. I'm really happy you like this idea too ! It suddenly popped into my mind when I put aside some papers I had to copy at work today Razz

PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptyMon 26 May - 13:40

Yep, swords are dangerously difficult! I lost count of how many pictures of anime characters holding swords I had open while drawing Athrun's sword, and I couldn't find even one that really helped with that specific angle! O__O Haha, I basically had to rely on the chibi with his stumpy little arms. ^^;

Oh yeah, Kenshin is cool! ^0^ I'd love to see a sneak preview if you don't mind!

Heehee, my aunt loves anime! She has watched Gundam SEED, but she hasn't seen Destiny yet, because we started with Code Geass before I could get my hands on some english subs of Destiny, and she wanted to finish that first. So we started on episode one of Destiny last night! YAY!

Final Fantasy chibi's!? Awww, which characters have you got? ^___^

Chibi Samurai Athrun will get a special place between my other two big-headed Athrun chibis. Then I'll have... drumroll... three! :O

Yzak would be really mad at being turned into a monkey, but at least he's on top of Athrun's head so that might make him feel superior. ^_^ I can't quite make out Dearka, but I think he's been turned into something too.

I love the idea - it sounds like lots of fun to draw! I've started doing my research and I've already decided on outfits for Athrun and Cagalli. cat

Dangerously difficult Laughing Nice word play. ^^
It's true that you don't see many pics of a katana held at that specific angle. Maybe now and then in an anime episode, but you still have to be lucky to find any screenshots of that particular moment.

cheers You like Kenshin ! It's one of my favourite series. And tanth likes to call me the Kenshin of modern life, lol.
Owkays, here's the *cough* sneek *cough* preview *cough* Very Happy

Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 Kenshin%20vector%20preview

Seriously, your aunt rocks ! Like I said, I don't really have anybody in my family that's interested in anime, or what I make.
Destiny. It's been a while since I finished it. Then again, I do try to get my hands on subs as soon as they are released.

What better way to reply to that question by, posting a pic of them Very Happy

Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 Anime%20stuff%2023

Aren't they adorable ? ^^ I wanted to buy the set of Lamento chibi's too, but they got sold out before I could order them Sad

Cool ! What other two Athrun chibi's do you have ?

Yeah, good point. Knowing Yzak, he'll feel mighty sitting on top of Athrun, despite being turned into a chibi monkey.
Too bad they put that water mark on top of Dearka. But from what I can see, I think he's been turned into a brown bear.

It's fun how you can picture my ideas in your mind so quickly. Then again, that's a talent of artistic people such as you and me.
I'm all thrilled to see how this one turns out. I know it'll be great, just like the Crimson samurai.

Yep, I like Kenshin and I also think that that's a suited nickname for you, heehee! Believe it or not, lthough, I have yet to watch the series! I only saw the OVA... but I'm definitely going to watch the anime as soon as I can get my hands on it. O,o Anway, I like what I've heard of it so far.

Phew! Your vector looks great! The colours and everything is perfect! So, except for the sword, which part did you find the most challenging to vector?

Rewatching anime is always that much more fun when you're watching it with someone. I love watching anime with my aunt because she's always so full of funny comments. ^_^ Like when we started on Destiny, she said: "Hoekom lyk Athrun dan nou so snaaks?" She thought Athrun looked really strange and she couldn't recognize him with those dark glasses on! ^0^ I had to remind her that he's two years older now in Destiny, and she settled for Cool 'Athrun is undercover' as the final explanation before we could get on with the story! Heheheh!

Awww, your chibi collection is cute! I don't really know Lamento. Is it about people with cat ears on their heads? confused I did a google search and that's all I could find.

Let's seeee, I've got the little Athrun chibi that's saluting (with a tiny figure of Nicol standing behind him, also saluting) and I have the one of chibi Athrun with his left arm in a sling and he has a little suitcase he can carry about. I wanted to take you a picture of my chibis too, but the camera's batteries died on me. They're charging now, so hopefully I'll be able to post a decent shot of them later. Wink

Heheheh, I will tell you just what they did to Dearka once my chibi samurai figure arrives from the other side of the ocean. Aww, I can't wait!!! bounce

I think I was really lucky that my samurai picture's proportions came out right, but I'll do my best again this time! Just you telling me that you're looking forward to it makes me more motivated to do this exactly right! cat

Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptyFri 30 May - 12:23

Several of the guys at training (that have seen the series) call me "Our very own kenshin". That's of course because of my 'anime freak' status Very Happy, and becuase I have the longest hair (AND tie it up). It's really fun to be called Kenshin. Razz

Aaahhhh. The OVA was marvelous. Beautiful artwork. I have all the Rurouni Kenshin DVD's you can find (the manga too), and the OVA remains my favourite. The series is also. The art style is a bit less, but the more loose feeling and funny moments make up for that.

Thankies !!! *hugs* I'm so glad you like it. It's my current highlight, and I'm really proud of it.
The most challenging was getting started, and afterwards trying to keep all the layers in the right order (there's over 200 of them). The hair was a pretty 'killer' part too, as well as the belt. But the toughest part of all were the eyes.

That's true. I mostly watch anime alone. So whenever I have a friend coming over at my house, and he/she feels like watching along, I'm most happy.
Tell your aunt I think she's kick-ass cool ! From what I read, she's a real anime passionate. And I adore the way she commented on Athrun's new 'Destiny' looks, heheh. ^^

Yeah, they're small, but they are the cutest thing in the house (except for me of course ... Laughing).
Lamento's indeed featuring neko's. Actually, it's one of those yaoi-flavoured BGL games, but that didn't stop me from buying 3 Lamento figurines from the Kotobukiya collection. They're so fantastically crafted that i simply HAD to buy them. There's pictures of them in the Chat Lounge, in a thread called "Show off your anime collection."

I can picture the first Athrun chibi in my head. I've seen a picture of it before. The second one however not. But don't hurry on taking a pic. ^^ I'm a patient man Smile

It'd be cool if he's actually been turned into a bear.

Hurray for motivation ! Very Happy But it's a fact that with the right motivation, you can get something done much quicker and better. Yesterday at work, I had a serious lack of inspiration, just because I'm not motivated for that particular assignment. Today however, I did something with much more motivation, and it really speeded itself on my screen.
So yeah, I'll gladly be your motivation. ^^

I agree, the Kenshin OVA has beautiful artwork. And also really amazing music! I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on the series!

200 layers!?!?!? Whoa... I can imagine that the hair and all those folds on the belt would be difficult! You did a great job on the eyes! They look just right and so real!

Heheheh, my aunt says that she likes doing things people don't expect from her. And she really gets into the anime. You should hear her swear at Lelouch... 0----0 I wonder what she'll end up thinking of Shinn. She might hate him because she is a fervent Kira fan, or she might even end up liking him! (See what I mean with her doing the unexpected?) She even gave those three druggies from SEED swearwords for nicknames... O__o

Right! I'll have a look at your other figures in the Chat lounge! Wink

And, the batteries have finally recharger, so here they are... My two little Athrun chibis! I love them so! Very Happy
Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 1212243499

It really helps if someone is motivating you. Then I feel like I can do anything! I'm in a bit of a slump at the moment, but I managed to finish both Athrun and Cagalli's expressions. To let off some steam, I drew a new Athrun chibi (chibi's are so much easier than serious drawings, because their heads can be as big as you want them!).

But the real root of my stress is my latest fanfiction: Fantasy Trap (here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4211061/1/Fantasy_Trap)! I want to write the next chapter, and I know what I want to do and exactly how the chapter will end, but I still have to figure out the how inbetween!

silent Oops, I didn't mean to whine in your ear, but it seems that this is all I think about all day. Gotta relax...

Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptySat 31 May - 11:26

*nods* The OVA indeed features a fantastic OST. But the series has some great songs too. The OP theme 'Sobakasu' is a truly legendary song. But my all-time favourite track from the entire Kenshin saga is the 3d ED theme, 'Heart of the Sword'.

Yeah, I know. 200 layers sounds really nuts. And believe me, nuts is what I was the evening when I finished this vector.
What's hard about parts like the hair and belt, is that all the different parts like main background, shading, highlighs and outlines have to be done separately, but of course afterwards need to fit perfectly when brought together.
THAT's why I find the eyes the most difficult part. ^^ It's not easy to make them look real and have the right vividness.

Hahahah. She really gave the druggies swearwords for nicknames ?! Cool That's really cool ! If she's a huge Kira fan of the same level as I am, I'm sure she'll end up hating Shinn (that little b*tch). But then again, like you say, if she likes to do the unexpected, your aunt might end up liking Shinn. Anyway, keep me informed of her opinions ! Very Happy

Owkays *Wink 's back*

Kawaiiiiii ! So I did have the right one in mind (the Athrun and Nicol one). I see the other one is about the episode where Athrun gets back after recovering from his 'unsoft' encounter with Kira in ep. 30. Heh, it's a cute chibi too. I can understand why you adore them. ^^

Maybe I should draw more chibi's too. I always cling to the more serious style. I do have plans for chibi versions of my RPG characters, but somehow I never end up starting working on them. Neutral Same goes for the mini-comics I have in mind. Neutral (again)

I understand your frustrations. I felt the same when I was writing on my series 'Demon's Wings'. The begin and end of a chapter always popped into my head without a problem. I even already had ideas for the final end, and even plans for a sequel. But all the rest, ... well, I sure had to dig deep into my inspiration to get something.
Sadly, I only was able to write 2 episodes. Lack of time and interest made me drop the project.

Nah, no problem ! I told you you can always talk to me about whatever troubles you. If it helps you get more relaxed and feel better, feel free to "whine" in my ears as much as you can and feel like. ^^

I haven't heard it yet, but I'll make work of getting my hands on the Kenshin anime. bounce

Wow... I don't know how you did it, but your Kenshin vector's eyes look great, so you definitely did it right! Wink

Yep, she really did. That was really funny to watch! Very Happy Most likely poor ole Shinn will get a swearword for a nickname too. My aunt is a real clingy Kira fan! ^_^ She very nearly cursed Athrun for fighting against Kira in the first series... silent But she started liking Athrun when he came over to Kira's side. We're scheduled to watch the third episode of Destiny tomorrow evening. I'll keep you posted, heheheh!

Hahaha, 'unsoft' is a really nice way to put it! Yeah, I love them so much! ^___^ The little suitcase isn't attached to the rest of the figure, so you can move it around anywhere you want.

Chibis are lots of fun to draw, because you can make even the most serious character look insanely cute! ^0^

Yes! Exactly! I've got ideas for a sequel too, and I haven't even made it to the middle of the story!!! But I feel a lot better about my story and where I'm headed with the plot, and how to get where I want to be. I had a lengthy chat with my brother and we discussed to inner workings of the storyline. (he's a genius in story plotting, so talking to him about stuff like that makes me feel really small, but in the end, it helped me a lot) Phew...! That's SO much better!

It's too bad you had to drop your story. I always feel sad when that happens. Sometimes, when I leave a project lying, I end up regaining my interest for it after some time and I carry on with it. That's why I have so many unfinished stories - I work on those I have the inspiration for, and the rest are in sleep mode until I get ideas for them. (Especially since inspiration for writing stories seems to be such a fickle thing with me, so I like to have many options to choose from) ^___^

Thanks! It's great to have someone to talk to, but more importantly, it means a lot to me since you understand what I'm talking about, being an artistic person yourself. Wink

PostSubject: Re: Athrun, anyone?   Athrun, anyone? - Page 2 EmptySat 13 Sep - 7:17

Hey hey, long time no see *gives a big welcome back hug*

Too bad you don't live over here. In France, you can buy the entire anime series in several boxes, and there's a really lovely collectors version of ALL the OVA's and movies !

Thanx. ^^ Well, for the eyes I used multiple layers and filters.

Hahahaha, that must be really kewl to both see and hear. I don't know all that much people who watch anime in such a lifely way Very Happy Then again, each time they were on screen, I called Shinn and Rey ShinnB*tch and ReyWh*re Razz

It's always nice when figurines, no matter how small they are, come with extra parts and/or parts that can me moved around.

Yep, totally agree. I've been working on a chibi version of my main RPG character Kuro. The basics are done, but I'll have to wait to finish him, since in the meantime, I've made some changes to the base-design of Kuro, so I'll have to make these changes to my chibi pic too. But chibi Kuro will be really adorable, I can assure you. Razz

How cool ! Must be a great help when you're suddenly having a little moment of loss of plot ideas.

It's sad, I know. But in a way, I'm happy I'm using the time I worked on Demon's Wings to build up the RPG I talked about much more professionally. Now I can make detailed backgrounds and profiles for my characters, as well as drawings of the main charas.
Who knows, maybe some day, I might start working on my Demon's Wings story again. Time will tell. ^^

My pleasure, and I feel the exact same way about it. ^^
